Adventures in Hastings

On the last day of the warm weather before the break of the crazy storms and rain in the UK, I jumped on the train to the South coast. I took advantage of the South Eastern Railways £20 return trip from London promotion and packed a picnic, towel, sun cream and flip flops for a day at the beach with a friend. The seaside town of Hastings is in 1066 country and has a rich history of invasions, battles and a still flourishing fishing industry that was fascinating to see.

Enjoy some photographs of the Old Town, fishermen's huts, the funicular railway and lots of pretty seaside vistas.

The weather was truly amazing and we enjoyed a pretty quiet beach for two hours until after lunch. The trip up the East Hill Cliff funicular railway was £3 for a return ride which was well worth it purely for the views alone. The big blue skies and glittering sea was a restful tonic away from the hustle and bustle of London.
